Henri Edmond Cross

Above the Sky, beyond the Clouds

Had the blue sky boasted pink clouds,

Made of cotton candy and naive thoughts,

Had the world been run by kings and queens,

Riding on stick horses across fields of vast greens,

Had God revealed all disguises of “bals masqués de la vie,”

Wouldn’t it be heaven on earth, mon chéri?

Had the birds not eaten the last crumbs of innocence and humanity,

Could the big white wolf have eaten the red riding hood so cunningly?

Had the blue, blue sky boasted pink, pink clouds,

Behind all the deliberate ignorance, pretentious lies, and fake smiles,

Had the bluest blue sky,

Boasted the pinkest pink clouds…

A humble attempt to make sense of the world above and beyond pink clouds.

All in bits, bits from all.
